JUDITH STONES *Profile added 26/1/17
Born and brought up in Horsforth (Nr Leeds). Left school in 1958 and began work with the Post Office.
Moved to Canada 1959-60, then to Scotland till getting married in Batley, November 1962. My first daughter was born in 1965, followed by twins (one of each) in 1968.
Worked mostly in retailing till retiring 10 ago.
Started writing poetry about 25 years ago. It was mostly humerous odes about work colleagues or holidays. Also wrote about my beloved Yorkshire Dales where I have walked for many miles. It never fails to give me the incentive to write more about it in all its moods.
Joined a Batley writers group (The Shoddywriters) in the 1980s and then Cleckheaton Poetry Readers Group when James Nash led it. Am now a Talking Zebra!
Have had some poems published and have attended several ‘open mic’ events in Kirklees.
I find writing poems and reading poetry therapeutic when feeling stressed. If my poems strike a chord with someone or give enjoyment then that is my reward.
